You know how it is. What with by-elections and all you simply haven’t had time to sort out your Christmas gifts. Before panic sets in relax, don’t worry, sit back and enjoy the LDV last minute gift guide. All the political pressies you could possibly want – and plenty you didn’t!
For children
It simply has to be the “Tiger Tim” cuddly toy. Like our leader, his qualities and all round niceness speak for themselves and he even has a miniature bird of liberty T-Shirt. Yours for £9.50 from the wonderful Lib Dem Image. The Parliament Shop has also has a lovely wooden toy – “House of Commons in a box” but a bit pricier at £19.99.
For the ageing activist
Want to be reminded of the halcyon days of designing FOCUS by hand before those pesky computers spoilt it all? Make all the wobbly headlines you like with transfer lettering (letraset) available from WH Smith at £1.95 per page. For a John Bull print set it will have to second hand on ebay and it will set you back about £20.00.
For fashionistas
If you want to avoid the horrors of the Lib Dem rosette and cagoule look, Zara have a Lib Dem gold leather skirt (although they call the colour “mustard”). Happily at £19.99 it is at least £975 cheaper than the PM’s leather trousers.
For coalitionistas
Nick Clegg’s book “Politics”, dreaded by many of us, proves to be much more honest and human than expected – especially fun is the bit where he drowns out the British boos for him at a Team GB v Netherlands Olympic event by addressing the crowd in Dutch.
For history lovers
Back to Lib Dem Image for a mug printed with an archive poster of Lloyd George. An essential gift to mark the centenary of the Welsh wizard’s government – £11.95.
For the 48%
Support your local Polish shop by buying something yummy for the Remainer in your life. All Polish biscuits and chocolates are delicious but a family favourite of ours are Cherry Jaffa Cakes (Delicje Szampanskie Wisniowe). They retail for about a £1 a packet and if you are really lucky you might find the blueberry ones too.
Happy Christmas!

I love these ideas. Thanks Ruth! I esp like the “48%” one.
Beware Stuart, Polish Cherry Jaffa Cakes are highly addictive!!
What is the explanation for the shocking omission of “101 Ways to Win an Election”??
Frank, Frank – how right you are but “101 ways to win an Election” is co-written by my son’s godfather the wonderful Ed Maxfield so I am avoiding any accusations of nepotism!
