Catchup, 27th October

A trio of Independent Views kickstarted our week last Monday: Phil Booth from No2ID on credit freezes, Anne Furedi from BPAS about the human fertility bill and Dale Bassett from Reform about the IPOD generation. Our Independent View slot is open to almost anyone who wants to talk to Lib Dems whilst stressing their independence from any particular political party.

Our biggest debate last week started on a post from Mark Littlewood in which he set out his stall for Liberal Vision. 150 comments later and the debate is still going strong. Remind me to write a “how-to” post on formatting in comments – and remember, if you find yourself regularly hammering out comments in excess of 500 words, it might just be easier to submit whole articles to us instead.

We also got a fair bit of talking going on threads about smoking, libertarianism, and whether Vince should be Chancellor.

Danny Alexander MP popped by to let us know how the Lib Dems would fix the economy, and Riso Monkey returned with a rant about EARS. Jonathan Fryer also gave us a taste of what fighting the Euro elections on European issues might look like.

Our story on Clegg vs Policy Exchange racked up a few hundred hits as did the news about Osborne and Oleg Deripaska.

And we closed the week with the startling news that Tebbit is backing a key Lib Dem policy. Well, almost.
