Welcome to our new volunteer editors!

Liberal Democrat Voice has always aimed to be ‘Our place to talk’, a site primarily for Lib Dem members to discuss and debate. We welcome readers’ contributions, whether financial (hem-hem) or intellectual.

Building and maintaining a site like this, with fresh news and opinion day-in-day-out, is a labour of love. We are therefore delighted to be able to welcome a clutch of new day editors to afforce the Voice Collective:

All have volunteered to do an occasional turn here at LibDemVoice.org (while continuing their own sites)… so don’t be surprised to see …

See you in September

I’m mostly taking a break from Liberal Democrat Voice over July and August to write a book with Ed Maxfield on political campaigning.

The rest of the team will be keeping the site running, but if you’ve ever half-thought of writing a post for us, now’s a particularly good time to put fingers to keyboard.

I may now and again break my Lib Dem Voice fast 🙂 But I’ll still be tweeting and doing my monthly email newsletter about the Liberal Democrats.

Otherwise, see you in September.

Site news: comments in reversal

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you, nor is your computer upside down. We’re experimenting with reversing the order of comments so the most recent appears top of the list under each post rather than the oldest. That’s a popular choice on other sites though by no means universal. Do let us know what you think of our experiment.

What you think of Lib Dem Voice’s comments policy… your chance to comment!

In our most recent survey of Lib Dem members signed-up our discussion forum, we asked what folk think of the comments posted by our readers on the public blog.

We’ve tried different approaches to comment moderation on Lib Dem Voice. Initially, we were uber-liberal almost laissez-faire, only moderating comments which we judged were legally risky. Then, at the start of 2010, we decided in response to feedback from readers (including from those who ‘lurk’ but rarely comment) to moderate more actively, declining to accept comments which were at all abusive, or were completely off-topic. Our aim was, and …

We’re talking digital policy today

We’re trying something a little different today – three much longer posts than usual, all on the same policy theme. As the party currently has an Information Technology and Intellectual Policy Working Group at work, we’ve picked the same topic for today’s theme.

Today’s trio of posts are going to be:
