It’s Sunday. It’s 9am. It’s time for an extra special YouTube-free musical bonus, but first the blogs and the latest from Ethiopia.

2 Big Stories: Ethiopian edition

Election Campaign With No Credible Alternatives: Uninspiring
By popular demand, our unrivalled of the Ethiopian elections continues. Previously we’ve brought you news of the punch-up over nomination papers, but today it’s news of an election launch with rather British overtones.

The Ethiopian Journal reports:

Broadcast viewers and listeners were treated to repeats of known stories, unsubstantiated complaints, incomprehensible foreign concepts and virtually little that could invite voter enthusiasm …

Election is about choices between competing offers. The voters need to see compatible alternatives from which to choose.

If the first phase of the debate is to become standard rule for the campaign, we may be in for boring repetition of branding, recital of incompetencies of the other side and externalizing own failings, with no offer of some indications that the future is promising. In that eventuality, woe unto us who will endure a campaign which is uninspiring.

Italian owned company to produce electric cars in Ethiopia

An Ethiopian company called Free Style PLC plans to assemble electric cars in Ethiopia at its plant in Legetafo, Signor Carlos Pironti, according to Reporter.

The company, owned by Italian businessman, has finalized preparations to produce the first electric cars in the country, according to Signor Pironti. The company will assemble different models of electric cars with an automatic brake system, says the report. (Ezega.com)

Sunday Bonus: How does your website sound?

It’s the question you’ve always wondered, admit it: “What would that website sound like if turned into a piece of music?”.

Well wonder no more.

Instead head over to www.codeorgan.com and get any website turned into a carefully crafted piece of music. (Carefully crafted that is, except for the one for www.MarkPack.org.uk which due to some unaccountable bug is a rather slow moving mournful piece.)

Glad to say that at time of writing the Lib Dem Voice tune is rather cheerful, though the publication of this post may change that. LabourList starts off quite nicely and then the tune all falls apart, whilst ConservativeHome is all full of conflicting tunes jostling for primacy. Maybe there’s something in this turning websites into music lark…
