First results not encouraging for Harris

I’m watching Election night on CNN, which provides a very pithy, statistical coverage of the results.

My first takeaways are not encouraging for Kamala Harris. Mind you we are very short of tea leaves to read so far.

A Florida county which Biden won by several points is showing Harris trailing Biden’s number.

In Georgia, it’s very early in the counting process. Independents, which make up 31% of the electorate, are going clearly for Trump, whereas Biden won the independents in 2020.

Also in Georgia, Trump is doing better than 2020 with non-college white males (but their percentage of the electorate is down). Harris is winning younger voters, whereas Biden lost to Trump amongst that group.

It could be that they have counted some “bad boxes” for Harris so far in Georgia.

It will interesting to see how North Carolina shapes up. Their exit polls are expected soon.

It’s certainly squeaky bum time for the campaigns. What are you seeing? please leave your comments below.
