Glad to see theres a good proportion of Women to balance our MPs.

  • I would like to know from the candidates for the leadership whether they will support giving the whip back to Jenny Tonge and Matthew Oakshott, should they wish to receive it.

    Tony,

I can’t see the whip being offered to someone whose activities during the General Election were, under Party membership rules, an offence requiring expulsion.

But, in any event, he has formally taken leave of absence from the Lords for the duration of this Parliament, he won’t be back for a while.

Has Matthew taken leave of absence again? I think he has burnt his boats with us really.

I think that Jenny is happy where she is, with us but not formally taking the Whip. Anyway if she did apply to rejoin it would not be a matter for the Party Leader.

I would be appalled if Oakeshott was allowed back in the party. He gave money to the labour candidate here, and it was spent sending a letter to all known to them possible Lib Dem supporters telling them to vote labour. it was written and pruduced to look and sound like an official Lib Dem letter and caused a lot of confusion with even members thinking it was from the Lib Dems.
    enough said ?
