LibLink: Chris Huhne’s micro op-ed in The Sun

If there was a prize for the shortest op-ed this year, chances are it would go to Chris Huhne. His latest op-ed weighs in at just 117 words – though given those are 117 words in The Sun they reach a rather larger audience (even of Liberal Democrats) than many a longer piece elsewhere.

Here is a brief sample:

Before long, we’ll all be plugging into the mains.

For the full 117 words, see The Sun’s website.

The brevity is commendable but reports on the progress of the war against Rupert Murdoch are even shorter.

  • I have just heard Don Foster praising the deal reached to enable Murdoch’s takeover of BSkyB, brushing aside the fears put forward by Tory peer Lord Fowler that impartiality in broadcasting could be compromised in the future.
“Who knows what will happen in ten years time?” on air from a Liberal Democrat MP is a depressing reaction for those who have worked hard for this party, those who are now expected to rejoice that Chris Huhne is allowed 117 words in the Sun underneath a photo of…. yes, Rupert Murdoch.
