For the next election the Liberal Democrats will produce a web-based interactive manifesto, which will use audio-visual communications as its centrepiece rather than the written word.
Commenting, Steve Webb said:
“This site is all about giving party members a real say in our manifesto for the next General Election.
“Unlike the other parties, we want a genuine conversation, and the manifesto we produce will be better as a result.
“The days of the mass-produced print manifesto are over. Our manifesto for the next election will embrace new technology designed to reach people who have been excluded from the political process for too long.”
The website is at http://manifesto.libdems.org.uk – note: the press have full access to it until midnight on Monday.

I wonder if the press will find it quite empty. It wouldn’t let me register an account. Maybe they have a separate table of email addresses and membership numbers for the awkward squad?
They won’t find it empty – look like some Westminster staff had access prior to launch (very sensible)
Jock – the registration process checks against the party’s membership records. If you’re having difficulties, just drop an email to [email protected] with detals (e.g. which page you tried registering on, what message you got etc).
Please be aware, folks, there’s a rather large hole in the site’s security at the moment. I’m not a member, and I can’t login, but I can see every contributor’s comments in full. Evidence and explanation on my own blog…
Thanks – the feeds are now disabled. If anyone does have any technical problems with the site, please drop me an email at [email protected]
