The newly elected Federal Executive (the Lib Dems’ sort-of-equivalent to Labour’s NEC) has voted to replace David Griffiths as chair of the Federal Finance and Administration Committee.
Now, this is really only of interest to navel gazing Lib Dems but it is interesting to note that David Griffiths was the man tasked with standing up at conference and answering questions on the Michael Brown debacle, which can’t have done him any favours.
The new chair, Duncan Greenland, is a Camden Councillor and member of the management board of CentreForum. He takes up the reins of the most influential financial officer post in the party management with immediate effect.

“He takes up the reigns of the most powerful financial post in the party with immediate effect.”
I’m surprised other media aren’t reporting this, after all, it’s a post with more clout than Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman (AKA ‘Shadow Chancellor’).
What ever possessed you guys to vote for ‘Sir Menzies Campbell QC’ as your leader I’d like to know. And when will you be jettisoning him, more to the point.

Navel-gazing, not naval-gazing (unless they’re interested in boats).
Norman: Haha, good point on the phrasing – will fix.
Bernard: *blush*

Takes up the reins, not the reigns. It’s a horse-riding metaphor rather than a direct allusion to monarchy.
I used to get straight ‘A’s for my spelling at school. Shocking.
That’s “skool”, Rob. A school is something for fish.
Oh, wait…
Can they drop Menzies as well. After reading his sycophantic comments about Brown today it’s yet another reason why I have grown disillusioned with the party under Mr Campbell.
Were we not meant to be the real opposition to Labour?
