Opinion: We don’t duck things in OxWAb

duckFollowing on from our April Fool’s Day prank a large yellow Duck has appeared in the Abingdon HQ for the Oxford West and Abingdon Liberal Democrat Campaign.  Already he has become a big hit with the activists.

Typically for Lib Dems, a discussion ensued as to what to call the duck.  A quick internet poll was held, and we now have the results:

Duck a L’Orange (write in suggestion from Neil Fawcett): 69%

Shirley Williams: 15%

Paddy Ashdown: 8%

Evan Harris: 8%

Lembit Opik: 0%

Result: Duck a L’Orange gain.  Majority: 54%

On hearing the news, the newly elected Duck said:

Quack.

duck and jamesIt was later clarified that Duck was in fact describing Nigel Farage.  There were concerns that the name A L’Orange would be too European for UKIP, who would seek to deport Duck out of the country.

Agent Neil Fawcett was reported to be delighted with his latest election victory, but could not be contacted directly, as he was working towards his next successful campaign.

duck and the teamRumours that CentreForum are trying to recruit Duck as he’s rumoured to be  a  L’orange booker cannot be confirmed at this stage, as he has been spotted fraternising with Social Liberal Forum members and activists.

The Liberal Democrat HQ just off the Vineyard in Abingdon is open every day from 10-5pm, and late night Mondays and Tuesdays until 9pm.  Activists who wish to come and see Duck A L’Orange and campaign for Layla Moran and the Lib Dems are most welcome.  Tea, coffee and refreshments are on hand.  Email: [email protected] or just turn up on the day.

Looks more like a white duck. Still, nice to see we get support from everywhere. 🙂

  • I am told that bird-watchers refer to common UK birds as LBJs (little brown jobs).

Glad that your duck is not a Little Browne Job .

You’re so funny. I actually suggested “They’ve gone quackers in OxWAb” would be a more suitable headline:-).

  • Graham, it probably went white when it was told that, in the victory interview, it was going to get stuffed by Paxo!

I’ll get my coat (and leaflets)………….
