Patrick Cormack, the Tory MP who huffed and puffed about not being able to take his rightful place in Parliament and whinged that he couldn’t participate in the 1922 committee elections because of the minor inconvenience of his Liberal Democrat challenger dying during the last election, has failed to be reselected by his constituency party. And a good thing too.

Actually Sir Patrick is a good constituency MP and this decision is completely bonkers. I would expect it to be reveresed by the wider membership.
I agree, Tories have shot themselves in the foot. Perhaps the Peel group should have a chat with him.
A very bizarre decision from what I presume is either a large committee or an underattended general meeting.
Still, the more arguments the Tories have over someone who apparently seems to be an asset to the Tories in that constituency, the better.
I wonder if this is a modernisers versus traditionalists thing, or just a personal spat of some kind. Of had all the members at that meeting just inhaled…?
