I absolutely love my Sunday routine. Waking up, as always, at 6:30am and going for a long walk. My routine started during the pandemic and luckily, it has never stopped. I really value this “me” time, which is combined with an opportunity to clear my head, slow down and simply breathe without having to think about my next move.
The other aspect of my Sunday walk is that it also provides a fantastic occasion to deepen my relationship with some of my friends, who don’t mind starting a day when most people are still fast asleep!
June is often dedicated to Men’s Health. It encourages early detection of diseases and promotes healthier lifestyle. It also addresses issues around taboo topics such as suicide and mental health.
I think that today, far too often, we associate men’s health, our physical condition, with the way we look. We are often “encouraged” to show-off our dominance and masculinity. I don’t subscribe to it and I think that life has much deeper meaning that only how we look, what we drive and how extensive our pockets are.
This is why I really enjoy my Sunday morning walks with my buddy, Piotrek known as Bix. With my “partner in crime”, we often talk about all sorts of topics; career choices, our families, life and n the UK and how our upbringing during communism and Polish transformation shaped our lives.
More recently, we have talked a lot about PURPOSE. I love exploring it with Bix, and with the others. The purpose is important; it helps to guide us, it becomes our “life compass”. It enables us to think outside of the box and look at our life from a wide range of perspectives.
Every walk, every conversation builds something meaningful and it positively impacts our wellbeing. Let’s remember, not only in June, that what we all need more than anything else is a collective desire to DIALOGUE. This powerful tool, which is available to us at no cost, will help us grow individually and altogether. This is how we can build more prosperous, coherent and healthier society.
