And so we reach the end of my day at Lib Dem Voice Towers. If you’ve come away impressed at the good things that Liberal Democrats are doing and planning around the country, if you’re feeling enthused and want to do more to help your local campaign, if you’ve enjoyed reading the varied selection of articles we’ve done today, then this day has done what I wanted it to do.
The polls are not great. The media are giving us a bit of a kicking but we can’t let that become a self fulfilling prophecy. We need to be out there talking to voters, doing the things we always do, with pride. Daisy in Reading and Abi in Hull have shown us today how Liberal Democrats can turn round years of Labour neglect and make a noticeable difference very quickly. Jillian’s told us about Alex Cole-Hamilton’s vibrant and positive campaign in Edinburgh Central. I’m lucky enough to be a tiny part of that team too and I want to see Alex in there, fighting to support children as passionately as he does in his day job for a children’s charity. We’ve had Callum and Sophie showing the general awesomeness of Liberal Youth Scotland.
In Wales, we’ve seen from Ed and Mark their positive messages, typically for Liberal Democrats targetting resources to those who need them most and protecting frontline services, creating jobs to tackle youth unemployment and had a glimpse into Elizabeth Evans’ energetic campaign.
And we’ve seen Stephen again and look forward to having him back blogging with a vengeance after turning Northern Ireland out for Yes to AV.
So, a huge thank you to all the contributors who have produced some really interesting work. Thanks too to the LDV team. A day in the driving seat makes you realise exactly how much effort they put into keeping this site going day in, day out. I have really enjoyed myself, but, heavens, I’m tired. And they manage to run the site and have jobs too.
So I shall end this day by sending my good wishes to every Liberal Democrat candidate standing for election in the next few weeks, including yet another member of the awesome Liberal Youth Scotland, Kristian Chapman, who’s standing in a by-election on May 19th in the Dyce, Bucksburn and Danestone ward of Aberdeen City Council. Kristian is currently the Aberdeen co-ordinator for the Yes to Fairer Votes Campaign and, as all Council by-elections in Scotland have been for the last 4 years, this one will be done under AV.
