Our Norwegian sister party, Venstre, has always been creative in their approach to politics. Instead of going into coalition with the ruling Conservatives, they entered into a confidence and supply arrangement.
This week, they published their budget proposals and issued a video to support them…
Now, far be it from me to suggest that the Liberal Democrats should try something similar, but Terje Breivik, the Deputy Leader of Venstre and their Finance spokesperson, does seem to be enjoying himself. He’s handy with a guitar too. I wonder how it compares with the Norwegian Eurovision entry?…

Oh dear. Nul points, I’m afraid…. And there was I thinking Clarissa Dickson Wright and Jennifer Paterson were long gone.
As for Terje Breivik………. Craig and Charlie Reid and 500 miles he is not… although he bears a passing resemblance.
I liked it as a novel way to engage but I am not sure how successful it might be. Ex band members in the Party might want to try their hand at this maybe…
Oh, I don’t know, I think they were quite good 🙂 , though personally I prefer ska, or funk and soul 🙂 A tricky road to go down though, all the same.
I am with David for number of points if it were in the Eurovision , I am with Richard for it being a good idea !
Yes, video is definitely the communication tool of the moment, and music has been an effective way to reach people’s souls for as long as music has been made, so, there could something in this, but it will have to be done very, very cleverly or we’d look very, very stupid. Over to the Lib Dem Creatives group for some ideas maybe…? https://www.facebook.com/groups/419626791568430/
It depends who you’re trying to reach, I guess. Research says text is more effective than video for reaching young people.
