Here is Vince Cable’s Easter message:
I would like to send warm wishes to all those celebrating Easter here in the UK and around the world.
For many Christians, Easter is a time of deep reflection and self-examination, and is an important reminder of the values of forgiveness, compassion and kindness. These are principles that resonate with people of all faiths and none.
At the heart of the Easter story is a message of hope and we see this demonstrated through various faith-based projects across the country, whose work helps to protect the most vulnerable in our society. Thank you to the thousands who continue to give their time and energy for the good of their local communities.
Finally, to all Christians and non-Christians, I wish you a joyful Easter

Thanks and Happy Easter!
A time for renewal. When we can realise we must emerge refreshed. Events mean we are needed.
“At the heart of the Easter story is a message of hope”. Indeed, that comes from the experience of the first Christians that the life that was in Jesus, did not end at the cross, but lives on. In that sense, the arguments about a literal interpretation of the resurrection stories are of little importance. For example, for Christians, care for the vulnerable and the outcastes of society is based on the belief that those values put into practice by Jesus are at the centre of what makes human life worthwhile and worth giving of one’s time, money and energy. This can be shared by everyone, whether they call themselves Christian or not.
No-one wants Easter messages from politicians. Bad enough at Christmas. Leave it to the Queen and the Bishops.
