I hope you all spotted that we had not one, but two, April Fool posts yesterday.
Simon McGrath announced a Special Lib Dem Conference to be held on April 1st 2016 when all former Lib Dem Ministers would don sackcloth and ashes and apologise for their actions in Government. I hear a song coming on …
That was followed by a post by our new co-editor, Caron Lindsay on how you can help Liberal Democrat Voice. Oh, sorry … that was deadly serious.
But later in the morning the Lib Dem Voice collective revealed that secret talks had been going on between the party and UKIP, to prepare for a possible coalition. Policy areas they were considering included allowing customers of pubs to vote in a binding referendum on whether they should become free houses. Further talks will be held in the Larif Pool Hotel in Ibiza.
Liberator had an April Fool post that was a bit too close for comfort: Clegg to abandon electoral reform?, while Stephen Tall claimed an exclusive with Clegg re-writes Lib Dem constitution to show that party has “learned the lessons of power”.
The Latin heading? It comes from probably my favourite spoof of the day: Pope renounces infallibility. (It translates – in cod Latin, I think – as “Enjoy a good April Fools’ Day”)
