The Lib Dem Voice collective will be live-blogging the US election from 11pm tonight, via the magic of CoverItLive. So keep the site open as you watch/listen/browse your way through the twists and turns of a truly historic night. As well as our chat and your comments, we’ll also have a couple of posts from Our Man in Grant Park Chicago, Lib Dem councillor Paul Elgood. See you in just over a couple of hours.
Oh, and by the way, if you see any exit poll leaks on t’intenets, (i) ignore them – they’re probably wrong; and (ii) post the links in the comments thread below, ‘cos we’ll all still want to obsess about them 🙂

I knew you’d fall for CoverItLive eventually 🙂 I think IainDale is doing a massive CIL too, so I’ll have to book mark you both!
Oh good, I was beginning to wonder if there was going to be a LibDem competitor to Dale’s thing. See you in a bit!
Completely meaningless exit poll

arggghh!! the most important event of the political year (if not decade) and i can’t stay up because of the sodding Oxford admissions test tomorrow morning!!
have fun anyway, chaps. it kind of feels like i’m going to bed on Christmas Eve, though that may be a touch premature…
You can see the Indiana results coming in here:
http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/county/#val=INP00p9
and compare to last time’s here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/elections/2004/in/prescounties/
and from what I can see there is a pretty big swing to Obama in the ones that are reporting so far.
Vigo County for example: 46% Kerry last time, 57% Obama so far this time.
MSNBC say Indiana too close to call.
That’s got to be good news for Obama and suggests the polls are not too far out.
agree about Indiana, early figures show a big swung to Obama
Virginia CNN exit poll says Obama 54% McCain 45% although they haven’t called it yet
Georgia neck and neck.
Indiana Obama 6% ahead!
South Carolina McCain only about 6% ahead!
You’re welcome y’all to keep posting here – but the live-blog is on this thread: https://www.libdemvoice.org/ldvusa-election-nite-2008-liveblog-5481.html
Not on my PC it isn’t – there’s no comment box.
or do you mean your new fangled ‘CIL’ thingy that I can’t get onto at all?
Fair ’nuff.
Even I can’t get on my new fangled CIL thingy at the moment. (But that’s cos bloody O2 has chosen tonight to have a major server failure. Grrr.)
Big swing to Obama in early reporting in Virginia.
Chesterfield County McCain 53% Obama 47% compared to 63/37 last time
Culpeper (as featured on the beeb last night) McCain 55% Obama 44% compared to 63/37 last time 64/35 last time.
ITV report national poll 51% BO, 48% JM. Thats too close for me.
CNN Ohio exit poll puts Obama 6% ahead.
Pennsylvania called straight away for Obama.
Obama 1% ahead in Florida in CNN exit poll and well ahead in Missouri
I can’t see how McCain can win now.
Obama is clearly ahead in several Bush states and McCain isn’t going to win any Kerry states.
Libeal Neil, I agree. Now ITV graphics have been corrects to Obama 103, McCain 34
