The Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard reports:
A COUNTY councillor from Tewkesbury has been chosen to represent the Liberal Democrat party in the Cotswolds for the forthcoming general election. Mike Collins, 46, will oppose Cotswold MP Conservative Geoffrey Clifton-Brown who has held the seat for the last 17 years. …
“It’s time for a change, so I pledge to the people of the Cotswolds that I will do my best to represent them in a fair and honest way,” he said.

Dear Lib Dems,
having recently moved to the Cotswolds, I could be excused for thinking that the Tories have a complete monopoly here and are taking their victory as certain! I’ve neither received any advertising or canvassing from Labour or you guys. The only posters out there are Tory !. Are you planning a mailout of your policies etc in this area and how they will affect us, as we have no intention of voting conservative and would like to define the differences between you and labour,
kind regards Steve and Deb Savery , Lower Swell, Stow on the Wold
I will be voting Lib Dem today as I believe most of their policies are progressive, except the one on CGT which
is frankly bonkers. Let’s hope Vince can get into number 11 instead of one of the History graduates.
As a long term Lib Dem voter I am horrified to think that a deal may be done to keep the discredited Labour Government in office. Throughout the campaign the leaders have stressed that the “voter is king” , politicians have all talked about listening to the public and all have promised change. Now the election is over its the same old story, deals being made behind closed doors, and bargaining for political advantage with no regard for the clear decision of the public that a Labour Government has very little support
