New Lib Dem appointments to government

According to the No. 10 website, Ed Davey MP will replace Chris Huhne as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, with Norman Lamb to replace Davey in his role at the Department for Business.

Completing the changes, Jenny Willott becomes an Assisstant Government Whip, and Jo Swinson replaces Norman Lamb as Nick Clegg’s PPS.

Congratulations to those Lib Dem MPs taking up new positions in government.

I hope they all do well and fight their corner for Liberal policies.

But if I were them I’d have said “no thanks it’s a poisoned chalice”.

  • The idea of Tony being offered a ministerial post is an awesome one though 🙂

  • @Tony Lawson ” Lawsless, I see.”

David Laws doesn’t need a cabinet post. He’s become the Mycroft Holmes of the Coalition:

Whilst holding no exact position … “The conclusions of every department are passed to him, and he is the central exchange, the clearinghouse, which makes out the balance. All other men are specialists, but his specialism is omniscience.” (The Bruce-Partington Plans)

  • Great also to see Jo Swinson get some recognition too.
