Welcome to Lib Dem Voice

Hi and welcome to Liberal Democrat Voice.

I’m Rob Fenwick – I’m a Lib Dem activist and supporter, and I was the party’s Internet Campaigns Officer during the last general election.

I’ve set this site up under the caption ‘our place to talk’ – it’s a place for activists and party members to have a conversation. Now I’ve got it up and running I hope you, my fellow activists, will bring the place to life.

Our public conversation takes place on this blog. Anyone can submit a piece to appear on the blog, and entries are actively welcomed. However, the blog is edited.

There is also a more private conversation space on the forum. The forum is intended for Lib Dem party members only, and you set the agenda. The forum is not edited, though moderators will be on hand to mediate in any difficulties.

This place is intended to be “by activists, for activists”. It receives no sponsorship from any of the big party donors.

It is not an “official” blog, though I’m delighted to welcome on board our very own blogger from Federal party HQ (bloggers from Scottish and Welsh parties very welcome too!). Very shortly, I’ll be seeking additional moderators and editors.

They’re in the sidebar to the right, Peter, under “Keep up to date”.

  • Well done Rob. Hope it takes off. The forum is a very useful idea. Hope it takes off.

  • Neil, thanks for stopping by and please help it take off! Tell some people in your area about it 🙂

Hi, just enter https://www.libdemvoice.org/ and that’ll work – I’ve just tried it.

  • Is this the new Cix, then?

Well done – it’s fab, accessible and will probably take up more of my time than is healthy.

Thanks for your work in setting this up.

  • Hey, thanks 🙂

I’m not sure it’ll ever completely replace CIX – Lib Dem Voice does lots of things CIX doesn’t, but there are two things that CIX does that this site doesn’t – one is file sharing (if I add file sharing to this site the costs of running it will rocket and some sort of charging would then have to come in – which I want to avoid at all costs) and the other is offline reading.

My view at the moment is that the above are what you might call ‘premium services’ that aren’t a core part of a discussion site where the name of the game is just to get together and talk, so if people want those things they can carry on paying for CIX!

  • Hi Peter – I bought the domain name too close to going live with the website, so for the first day or so not everyone could see it. I think that may have been the problem that was affecting your access from the Assembly, too.

5 years on, still going strong!
    Nice work!
