Well done and thank you to everyone who has done anything for the Liberal Democrats in our campaigns culminating today.
What a glorious day it was here in the south of England! – and apologies if the weather in your area wasn’t as great.
My straw hat got its first outing of the year and, as I tramped round the streets of Newbury, I couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have such glorious sunshine and warmth.

Yes, it was wonderful. I was stuck in the Committee Room so didn’t really get out to enjoy it properly, but people did come back from knocking-up complaining of sunburn.
Time for serious talks as soon as these results come in. My suggested topics for discussion:
1. Is a new leader required in Wales?
2. Is a new leader required in Scotland?
3. Is the party nationally pursuing too much of a “core vote” strategy?
1. No
2. No
3. Yes
The topics suggested by Eddie Sammon are very poor topics for discussion.
We should rather be considering is have we improved on our 2015 vote and our 2012 vote.
I remember the bad years of 1988 and 1989 and our recovery didn’t really start until 1990 and the Poll Tax introduction.
We came third on the Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough by-election beating the Conservatives as we did in 2010!
I think we should see Paul in his straw hat.
