WATCH Online hustings for party President

You can watch the whole of the online presidential hustings below. The event was chaired by Lorely Burt last night. Questions were submitted by members on a range of issues. You can see the two candidates, Christine Jardine MP and Mark Pack, outlining their vision for the role of the President and the future of the party.

  • I had to postpone watching the recorded Hustings, and did so yesterday evening (ie Tuesday 8th). May I gently and tentatively offer a minor criticism of the set-up?

The unchanging picture I got on the screen lacked visual balance. We were presented with what seemed to be a large man in a dark suit, and two women — more colourful, but rather further from the viewer’s vantage point or ‘seat’. Visually, the figure ‘nearer’ to the viewer dominated the screen.

No doubt a coin had been tossed, and all, in terms of procedure, was completely fair. But I do suggest that visually it was, literally, somewhat one-sided. May I suggest that some thought is given to that before the next such presentation. In all other respects I thought it was excellent (except that on my computer I wished i could have made it a bit louder.)
