If you were at our recent Spring conference, you will hopefully have heard all about my campaign to become the first Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire. 

Last weekend, we were joined by Party President Mark Pack in Hessle, East Yorkshire, to formally launch our campaign for the mayoralty. 

It was an honour to be joined by Lord Pack and by so many activists, both from across the region and further afield, such as Lord Shaffaq Mohammed and a team from Sheffield. We’ve also had a visit from Ed Davey and many front-bench MPs. 

It’s clear the momentum is with us here, and it’s clear that local people want to send the Labour Government a message on 1st May. 

But we must not be complacent. The region is vast, comprising the city of Hull with the mostly rural East Riding, which spans almost 2,500 square kilometres, with hundreds of thousands of people registered to speak to. We must deliver to and speak with as many people as possible, as many times as possible, between now and 1st May. 

We’re not the only party making noises in the region. Reform UK have launched their campaign with a new candidate, introduced at a special event hosted by Nigel Farage himself. They’ve picked Luke Campbell, an Olympic medal-winning boxer. 

I’m writing this article to ask for your help to win this election.

If you don’t have elections in your area and you can get here, please come and help us make history in Hull and East Yorkshire. If you’re further afield, we have daily phone banks you can join, or you could donate to help us keep the RISOs firing. 

It’s clear we can win this election and win the party’s first-ever metro mayor. 

Not only that, but we can deliver it in Labour’s backyard and show that the party is back in the North. 

We want a success story on the day and there’ll be no better case study than Hull and East Yorkshire. It will show we are back and we can win anywhere where we work hard. 

But we can only win with help. With your help, we can deliver a stunning victory and make history for the party.
