Conservatives lose majority on Mendip Council

Cllr Les Bennett has quit the Conservative group on Mendip Council, deciding to sit instead as an independent. The loss of Cllr Bennett means the Conservatives no longer have an overall majority on the council, which is now 23 Conservative, 23 Liberal Democrat and 1 independent.

He was originally elected as a Lib Dem in 1995

This is no major suprise – rats leaving the sinking ship I think.

THe Tories are very unpopular and lost a lot of seats in May. People are fed up with their poor leadership and arrogant decision making.
