Conservatives lose majority on Mendip Council

Cllr Les Bennett has quit the Conservative group on Mendip Council, deciding to sit instead as an independent. The loss of Cllr Bennett means the Conservatives no longer have an overall majority on the council, which is now 23 Conservative, 23 Liberal Democrat and 1 independent.
