Top of the Blogs: the Golden Dozen #10

And into double figures… Here is the tenth of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (22nd-28th April), together with a hand-picked quintet you might otherwise have missed.

Let the fun commence:

1. ‘Newsnight predict Labour meltdown’ on Paul Walter’s Liberal Burblings blog.
Let’s just hope that this year their prediction is accurate.

2. ‘Which PPC?’ on Justine McGuinness’s blog.
For 24 hours the blogosphere buzzed – order was soon restored.

3. ‘Peter Tatchell will help secure another famous Lib Dem win’ on Nich Starling’s Nofolk Blogger blog.
And who am I to disagree?

4. ‘A two-horse race in Oxford East’ on (ahem) Stephen Tall’s A Liberal Goes A Long Way blog.
ibid.

5. ‘Two can play at that game Mr Howells’ on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog! Blog.
Because seeing is believing.

6. ‘Liberal Democrats up another two points in poll’ by Mark Pack on Lib Dem Voice.
We’re heading in the right direction, suggests the world’s number one terrorist Mark Pack.

7. ‘Good-bye, or is it au revoir?’ on (ahem) Stephen Tall’s A Liberal Goes A Long Way blog.
Semi-bowing out.

And here are another five you may not have read, but should have done:

8. ‘Are Labour faking photos in Bristol?’ by Mark Pack on Lib Dem Voice.
Not a tough question to answer. (At least they’re not faking Bristols in photos.)

9. ‘Bin spin’ on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog! blog.
With a gentle reminder to Lib Dems that local policies should suit local situations… and not to give political opponents easy ammunition.

10. ‘Standards Board and Ken Livingstone’ on John Hemming MP’s blog.
An appeal for the Standards Board to “concentrate on things that matter rather than people being rude to each other”.

11. ‘Opinion: First they came for the Nazis’ by Laurence Boyce on Lib Dem Voice.
Are laws against freedom of expression always illiberal? (Yes, for my money.)

12. ‘“Little black boys will join hands with little white boys as brothers.”’ on Tom Papworth’s Liberal Polemic blog.
Here’s a radical, even liberal, thought: parents should be free to send their kids to the school of their choice.

I suspect next week’s round-up will be dominated by 3rd May’s Scottish, Welsh and local council election results. Good luck to all Lib Dem candidates and activists working their socks off in these final few campaigning days.

I’m about as pro-freedom of expression as they come but I would be that general.

Prohibitions on shouting “Fire” in a crowded cinema seem reasonable to me :-)
