Top of the Blogs: The Golden Dozen #154

Welcome to the 154th of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (24th – 30th January 2010), together with a hand-picked quintet, usually courtesy of LibDig, you might otherwise have missed.

Don’t forget, by the way, you can now sign up to receive the Golden Dozen direct to your email inbox – just click here – ensuring you never miss out on the best of Lib Dem blogging.

As ever, let’s start with the most popular post, and work our way down:

1. Conservative reaction to Tory leaflet on Lynne Featherstone MP’s blog.
A former Tory voter gives her reasons for backing the Lib Dems this time.

2. Labour fraud – “the Lib Dems can’t win here – (they only have a Lib Dem MP)” on John’s Liberal Revolution.
The Labour party proves they don’t quite get how barcharts work, or why.

3. More on our Market Harborough by-election gain on Jonathan Calder’s Liberal England.
With a fantastic 14% swing from the Tories to Lib Dems.

4. Crikey, I appear to know more about Liverpool than the new Labour candidate by Mark Pack on Lib Dem Voice.
Take the ‘Do you know your Liverpool?’ test, and see if you do badly enough to stand for the Labour party.

5. Green blogger: Many Lib Dems “defecting to the BNP” on Jonathan Calder’s Liberal England.
Maybe it’s time to start no-platforming this Green blogger?

6. The second biggest fight in Wales: Ceredigion by Huw Dawson on Lib Dem Voice.
Keep Mark Williams in, keep the nationalists out.

7. The LibDems’ New Generation on Jonathan Fryer’s blog.
Welcoming parliamentary and council candidates from black and ethnic minority backgrounds to the party.

And now to the five blog-posts that come highly recommended regardless of the number of Aggregator click-throughs they attracted. As is now traditional we’re using the LibDig bookmarking website for party members to select some of the posts from the seven days in question which you’ve most ‘dug’. But, remember, if you want to highlight a Lib Dem blog article published in the past seven days – your own, or someone else’s – using the steam-powered method of e-mail all you have to do is drop a line to [email protected] (providing the web-link and author, and any tagline comment you care to have published).

8. Nick Clegg: well hung?
on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog!
“Provocative title, provocative post.” (Submitted by niles via LibDig).

9. The Witnesses Sir John Chilcot Will Not Call on Alistair Carmichael’s Burning My Boats.
“Excellent post about how Parliament behaved over the Iraq war.” (Submitted by markpack via LibDig).

10. Charlie Simpson the 7 year old Haiti fundraiser on Andrew Reeves’ Running Blog.
“Charlie Simpson has raised a staggering amount and won a place in many peoples hearts.” (Submitted by andrew.reeves via LibDig).

11. TV leaders’ debates: how to sort the details on Mark Pack’s blog.
“Sounds sensible to me!” (Submitted by james.graham via LibDig).

12. Day 3315: Millennium’s Falcon on Millennium Dome, Elephant’s Very Fluffy Diary.
And it’s a very happy birthday to the Lib Dem blogging world’s answer to the O2. (Nominated via Twitter by alexwilcock).

And that’s it for another week. Happy blogging ‘n’ reading.
