  • James King Says:

I had the pleasure of working for Ray at Westminster in the late 90s. She was the least arrogant politician I have ever met.

Ray had no time for the arcane ways and means of Westminster, but she suffered the long journeys to London to represent the people of Argyll and Bute. The mutual affection between Ray and her constituents was obvious.

Ray carried the torch for Home Rule in the dark Tory years and it is a shame the Scottish Parliament was not established a little earlier, as I feel sure Ray would have sought election.

    She will be missed.

  • George C Says:

Ray will be missed. I remember with a smile the time she had to pull out of speaking in a debate because she had lost her voice the previous weekend at Murrayfield.
