Two more Tory defections

News reaches the Lib Dem Voice team of two further Tory defections.

In Harlow, Sumners & Kingsmoor councillor John Paul Goddard has quit the Conservatives to sit as an Independent. From having 13 councillors only a year ago, the Tory group has now fallen to 11 – level with Labour and only one seat ahead of the Liberal Democrats. And this in a highly marginal Labour/Tory seat.

On the same day, the Conservatives have lost control of Aylesbury District Council following the resignation of Cllr Ted Griffin, also preferring to sit as an independent.

Cllr Goddard apparently saw himself as a modern, Cameron-style Conservative whilst his group lagged behind. And Cllr Griffin seems to have thought that the new Tories were too left-wing for him.

I am mystified, bemused and not a little proud that your excellent website managed to obtain or would be in any way bothered to obtain details about my miniscule political role in Harlow. However I do wish to thank you for being honest and non-prejudicial and for respecting the facts as they have accurately been presented to you. I have looked at this site for quite a long while over the last couple of years but never for one moment believed that I would actually feature on it. Many thanks and good luck in all your future endeavours. Cllr John Paul Goddard, Independent Member, Harlow District Council

  • I huess the truth is too painfull to publish. Thanks for removing my views. Its people like you who keep people like him in power. But hey your all politicians lying and covering up for each other. As long as you get your over inflated saleries every month and as much spare cash through fraud of the public as possible you are happy!

I look forward to you removing this also
