Why isn’t Alan Duncan MP calling for Michael Howard to be expelled?

I’m sure Alan Duncan wouldn’t want to come over as hypocritical fool who throws around false accusations of homphobia just to suit his own political ends, so he’d better get a move on with calling for Michael Howard to be drummed out of the Conservative Party.

Why? Well you see, Mr Duncan doesn’t like it when an election is described as a “straight choice” between two different parties; he thinks its evidence of homophobic bigotry.

But what did Michael Howard say about the Leicester South by-election?

Go on.

I think you can guess?

Yes you can.

And yes you were right.

Howard said the Conservative candidate was “straight talking” (oooeer) and the contest was a “straight fight” (nudge, nudge).

    It is a myth that Hughes ran as ‘the straight choice’ in the Bermondsey by-election.

    Some of the leaflets described the contest as ‘a straight choice’ between Hughes and Labour.

    If Alan Duncan believes that Jo Swinson got her figures wrong he should produce the evidence to back up his claims.

    The fact that he has to revert to misquoting election literature from 25 years ago shows how weak his case is.
