Worth a read: The Liberal Democrats’ mark of Cain
Written by the founding editor on 13th May 2007 – 11:37 pmJames Graham has written a post tackling the people (me included) who have been having a pop at Menzies Campbell:
I can’t however help but see some parallels between the tone of some of these anti-Ming pieces and a bunch of pre-adolescent boys running rampant on a desert island. It doesn’t get much more intellectual than ‘king must die because sun not shine’.
It’s worth a read.

James is spot on in his analysis (not in a personal level about you!).
A handful of people are panicking - and they should chill (+ take out any frustrations on an extra delivery round or two).

I can take a bit of personal bashing
I don’t claim that my ’skills’ of political analysis are particularly developed - I’m the first to admit I’m a political baby, but the reason I keep writing is because under our political system, whether you vote as the result of a reasoned and enlightened analysis of a party’s policies, or if you vote because the Sun told you to, your votes carry equal weight. Political babies have votes too!

The fact is that this isn’t new agitation, it’s been going on more or less ever since Harrogate 2006. Ming failed to impress during his first speech as leader and I have been made aware of metaphorical knives being waved by various activists ever since.
I stand by my comments on the “Ming must go” page - if we’re going to have a leadership election it needs to be very soon. Equally, if we’re not, and everyone in general is happy, we need to decide that very soon and then get on with the job.
I don’t find there to be anything immature about an honest discussion. It’s better to have a serious debate now than let the current sentiments fester underground until such time as they become a serious liability in the run up to a general election.
