  • Ms Benson seems to be a strong candidate but as unwelcome as a Labour retake of Reading East would be, giving them another Commons majority, a Tory win further down their target list in Reading West would likely result in an equally harmful Tory majority.  Alas in Reading West it is only Labour who can stop this and so Lib Dems should be urging their support to vote Labour, or at least trying to pick up their votes from the Tories.  In Reading East the opposite is true.

There are no circumstances under which it is justifiable for any political party to instruct its own supporters (as a whole) to vote for a different party. If you give up on your beliefs that easily then you shouldn’t be standing for election at all.

  • The only way to get Liberal Democrat policies implemented is to vote Liberal Democrat. Cameron is marginally more odious than Brown, but neither differs that much in their subservience to Washington, their enthusiasm for the control agenda and their willingness to be the lickspittle of the super-rich. If you vote Liberal Democrat you may not get Liberal Democrat, but if you vote for something else, you can be sure that you will never get Liberal Democrat.

‘Hugh’ posts this garbage, anonymously, on all Reading websites.

A Labour retake of Reading East is not going to happen. They have imploded since deselecting Jane Griffiths and lost most council seats. The only challenger to the Tories there is Lib Dem Gareth Epps.

  • And congratulations to Cllr Nigel Jones, selected last Friday to fight our corner in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
