Six major powers are now considering possible further U.N. sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program, a senior European Union official said on Saturday after a meeting of diplomats from the six. (Reuters)

Aid agencies and the US military are engaged in a desperate race to provide earthquake-devastated Haitians with enough clean water to stave off the threat of dehydration and massive outbreaks of waterborne diseases. (Guardian)

“MPs’ expenses: Nadine Dorries under investigation by sleaze watchdog” – so reports the Telegraph.

“A COUNCILLOR has resigned his seat on Barnet council after spending the last six months in Australia while claiming his £800-a-month allowance. Former Golders Green councillor Chris Harris was kicked out of the Conservative party in October after infuriating colleagues by continuing to claim £800-a-month allowances after leaving the UK in July” – reports the Hendon and Finchley Times.
