Two new Liberal Democrat Councillors were elected yesterday in the new Chippenham constituency:

Lorraine Roberts-Rance was elected in Chippenham Park with 66.4% of the vote. Lorraine was formerly the Green Party PPC for Chippenham before joining the Liberal Democrats this year.

From ALDC:

LD Lorraine Roberts-Rance 427 (66.4)
Con 216 (33.6)
Majority 211
Turnout 30.03%
LD hold

In Melksham Spa, Peter Dauncey gained a seat from the Conservatives, which means the Conservatives have now lost overall control of Melksham Town Council.

From ALDC:

LD Peter Dauncey 732 (58.8)
Con 432 (34.7)
BNP 81 (6.5)
Majority 300
Turnout 26%
LD gain from Con

  • Fantastic results in Chippenham last night. This seat provides the Lib Dems with a very real chance of victory next year and our first seat in Wiltshire for generations. I hope all Lib Dems across the county focus their energies on getting Duncan in at Chippenham.
