It’s been a while since we last reminded readers about this, so now seems a good time to publish the information again. You may have noticed that next to some people’s comments is a small picture of themselves, such as:
If you want a picture to appear next to your comments you need to do two things.
- Visit Gravatar.com, create an account and upload a picture.
- Post a comment, ensuring that your email address that you’ve used on Gravatar is the same one that you’ve put in the comment field.
One thing to watch out for – the Gravatar displayed is based on the email address you give, so remember to be consistent if you have more than one email address.

I suspect you know what I’m going to say here, Mark, and I am aware that I’m beginning to be a bit of a broken record, but…
Only two of those pictures are not white blokes, and one of those two is Pink Dog. Where is Helen, Alix, Meral? I’m not saying that excluding women/BME faces is a conscious choice here; I know it’s not and that you probably just picked the first few gravatars that came into your head. But it DOES paint a picture, both to the women already registered and the ones who might be thinking about it.
Fair point Jennie (and apologies if over-looked / forgot comment from you about this choice of gravatars before). I’ve been reusing the same set for quite a long while now, and back when first put together this was pretty much the full set of people with pictures. But will update the list for next time to be reflection of the much more diverse group there now is.
I mean in going on about women, sounding like a broken record, not in going on about gravatars 😉
