Lib Dems gain Ivybridge Filham, South Hams DC

Liberal Democrat Tony Barber has won the Ivybridge Filham by-election, following the resignation of the Tory councillor.

The result:

Liberal Democrats 379
Conservatives 356
Labour 121

Turnout: 21.76%

Liberal Democrat PPC for South West Devon Anna Pascoe (also the agent for this by-election) said,

This is a great result for Ivybridge! Local people have chosen Tony Barber because they know he will work hard and stand up for the town.

Congratulations to Councillor Barber and the team, who ran a thorough campaign in this supposedly “safe” Tory ward.

  • This superb result (in a non-target Parliamentary constituency) goes to show that in the Red Earth County the party is far from finished, as the metropolitan media would have us believe.
