Top of the Blogs: The Golden Dozen #35

Welcome to the 35th of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (14th-10th October), together with a hand-picked quintet you might otherwise have missed. And we are of course unexpectedly in the midst of a leadership campaign, which it’s fair to say virtually noone expected so soon! But without ado:

1. Shock candidate for Lib Dem leader on Jonathan Calder’s Liberal England
Pity those of you who clicked eagerly, unaware that the good Mr. Calder is apt to leg-pulling!

2. Ming told me before Conference he was going to resign on Jeremy Hargreaves’ blog
With leadership mania gripping the blogosphere, the more credulous are attracted by such headlines.

3. EXCLUSIVE: The shortlist for the next leader of the Liberal Democrats on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog
They do look pretty in pink.

4. Lib Dem Leadership Contenders in Full on Gavin Whenman’s Whiskey Priest blog

5. My leadership dilemma on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog
“I want time to think, and I want the candidates to have time to think as well.”

6. So the Huhne-Clegg battle will commence on Lynne Featherstone’s diary
“We do seem to be rather blessed with talent to choose from. On with the show!”

7. Thoughts at the start of the leadership contest on Rob Fenwick’s Posh Sounding Northumbrian blog
“I’m genuinely a floating voter, who veers towards the left.”

And five picked by me:

8. Why do the press tell such lies about MP’s salaries and holidays? by the Norfolk Blogger, Nich Starling
Nich attacks cycnical media spin that distorts the truth for cheap headlines.

9. Position Statement for Leadership Election on John Hemming MP’s weblog
A very public declaration of interest in standing for the leadership. Find out what the Hemming Supremacy might have looked like had he stood.

10. What do you think of John Pugh? on Jonathan Calder’s Liberal England
Jonathan examines the attack on Lib Dem News made by John Pugh.

11. Agreeing with James Graham on Lindyloo’s Muse

12. Day 2479: The New Leader Speaks! aka So, Farewell then, Sir Mr the Merciless on The Very Fluffy Diary of Millennium Dome, Elephant
Forget two-horse race – this is a two-horse-and-an-elephant race!
