  • A further female PPC selected:

    Aqila Choudry in Leeds NE

  • Meral Ece, chair, EMLD 3rd Apr '07 - 8:18am

Its very good news that we have a woman selected as PPC in a seat with a retiring MP. Is this the first?

  • “Wasn’t that Liz Lynne in Rochdale, back in 1992?”

    I love political geeks! 😉

If it was 1992, then congrats to Sarah Carr!
Still have some way to go if we are to achieve 50% women MPs after the next election… I think we have around 4 BME PPCs so far. Don’t think any are women, though would love to be corrected!

I stand corrected. Aqila Choudry must be the first female PPC so far!

  • Liz Leffman has been selected to fight part of Mark Oaten’s seat (admittedly the less promising bit).

  • Hywel Morgan 4th Apr '07 - 11:27pm

Technically wasn’t Flo Clucas selected for part of David Alton’s old seat?
