President Obama hails Senate health bill support
From the BBC:
US President Barack Obama has welcomed the passage of his healthcare bill through the Senate, saying it paves the way for “real” reform.
The bill, which passed with 60 to 39 votes, aims to cover 31 million uninsured Americans.
“This will be the most important piece of social legislation since Social Security passed in the 1930s,” he said.
It must still be reconciled with similar legislation passed by the House of Representatives.
Mr Obama said: “We are now finally poised to deliver on the promise of real, meaningful health insurance reform that will bring additional security and stability to the American people.”
Under-fives to get swine flu jab
From the BBC:
The vaccination of children under five against swine flu is to begin in the new year in Dorset, despite a national agreement with GPs breaking down.
The programme will begin following an agreement between NHS Dorset and more than two thirds of local GPs.
National negotiations over the implementation of the vaccine ended when the British Medical Association and government failed to agree a deal.
Under-fives are more likely to be hospitalised if they have swine flu.

The passage of the Health Insurance Reform on Christmas Eve was the best day`s work done by the US Senate, since it last sat on this date in 1895.
The 40 million worst off Americans who stand to benefit from the the Health Insurance reform will remember that it was the 44th President Obama who first pioneered this historical health care help for so many families and children.
