Matt Newton wins Whittle Hall by-election, Warrington South

Another victory against the Tories, this time in the constituency of Warrington South.

Congratulations to new Councillor Matt Newton and the team at Warrington Liberal Democrats on winning the Whittle Hall by-election, Great Sankey Parish Council.

Con 336
Turnout approx 11%

    900 votes, 11% turnout, parish council – there’s 9,000 electors in a single ward for a parish council? Shome mishtake, shurely?

    Good to win, but there’s a lot to do to make sure we’ve the victor’s share on a more significant voter turnout.

  • I see there was another local election in Surrey, and the T/O was only 16%.

    I expect the weather was bad in both these areas.
