Good morning and welcome to Wednesday on Liberal Democrat Voice!
This morning’s cheery photo (above) is of Leslie Sebastian Charles, otherwise known as million-selling singer Billy Ocean, one of the finest exports to come out of Trinidad and Tobago, via Romford. He is 65 years old today. Many happy returns, Billy! We salute you!
There is a slight connection to the forthcoming general election, as one of the Billy’s most popular songs is, of course, When the going get tough, the tough get going. Perhaps that is an anthem for the Liberal Democrats in the days and weeks ahead! Just click on it below if you need a blast of inspiration.
The next post on Liberal Democrat Voice will be reserved for infrequent and new commenters. It will follow in ten minutes’ time.

Big up Billy Ocean. As this thread is meta – why is LDV so hellbent on driving voters to the Greens?
I hadn’t realised until these threads how pathetic the Lib Dem environmental record has been, but now it’s been the sites focus for a week I’m starting to seriously consider voting Green, and it seems I’m not the only one! Up until this week I was operating under the vague assumption that Ed Daveys had been making the best out of a bad job, now I’m not so sure. If you must magnify a topic in this manner, at least have one article that lays out exactly what the Lib Dems have done in Government for the environment, because that’s where a lot of the problems have emerged. People are searching for a cohesive picture of Lib Dem environmental achievements, when Farron attempted this we were presented with a lot of vague ideas with no substance or accompanying legislation, no dates, no times, no places – just a bunch of “we stopped the Tories…”.
LDV often presents self-harming false dichotomies (Clegg, love or hate – Greens vs. Lib Dems), Marmite politics is probably undesirable in an election cycle and creates more anger, I’m sure a bit of thinking could smooth those articles out.
As Billy said, “It’s Never Too Late To Try”.
