Our final update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. Congratulations to Alan Worthington, whose Iheanacho Cheese won this year’s competition.

He amassed 2,277 points, which saw him take not only the top-spot, but also a top 25,000 position — not bad for a competition with almost six million players.

Alan just edge out his near-namesake, Alain Desmier — last year’s champion — whose Gander Green Giants finished on 2,271 points. Ciarán McGonagle’s Spartak Fantastak (2,263) came third.

Well done to all. A belated well done, too, to Benjamin Moody, manager of the month for April.

Our prepenultimate update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. Congratulations to Paul Noblet, our Manager of the Month for March.

His Fisher FC scored an impressive 295 points, just edging out Alan Worthington’s Iheanacho Cheese (288) and James Ludley’s Mercedes-Baines (286).

Our fourth (and, sorry, very belated) update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. Congratulations to Emma Vincent, our Manager of the Month for November.

Her Killer Canaries scored an impressive 278 points, just edging out Andy Briggs’ eponymous Andy Briggs On Fire (269) and Victor Githae’s M.S.F.C BOOM Squad (265).

Our third update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. Congratulations to Elliott Mears, our Manager of the Month for October.

His team, Hart Broken Bilic, scored an impressive 183 points, just edging out Graham Bates’ Viennafoxes and Ross Pepper’s The Pepperpots, each with 182.

It’s an international break this week, so you have til 18 November to select your teams to start closing (or, in Sam Kay’s case – see below – extending) the gap.

Their City Wanderers scored an impressive 306 points, a little way ahead of Stephen Kelly’s Roger Squadron (298) and Celyn Ashworth’s Politic Thistle (294).

His Obi One Kenobi Nil scored an impressive 200 points, just edging out former MP Adrian Sanders’ Riviera Magpies (197) and Jamie Lawson’s Gegen Style (189).

Our tenth and final update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. Congratulations to Alain Desmier, our runaway winner this season. His ‘Mountgrove Maulers’ have amassed a huge 2,417 points, over a hundred ahead of his nearest rival.

That places Alain in the top 500 world-wide, no small achievement given there are over 4.5 million players. And on top of that, he’s the Lib Dem canididate for Islington South and Finsbury, aiming to oust Emily Thornberry.

Congratulations and good luck, Alain! Well played, too, runners-up Andrew Hydon (2,314) and Christopher Morgan (2,272).

Our ninth and penultimate update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. Congratulations to LDV team member Alan Muhammed, our Manager of the Month for April.

His Shantastic XI scored an impressive 377 points, just edging out long-term league leader (and prospective MP for Islington North and Finsbury) Alain Desmier’s Mountgrove Maulers (374) and David Boynton’s Bev Rangers (373).

His Mountgrove Maulers scored an impressive 218 points, a nose ahead of Lynda Reid’s Paris Saint Yer’ma (213) and Lucy Keating’s FC Insert Name Here (210).

Our seventh update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. Congratulations to Nick Davies, our Manager of the Month for February.

His Wenger’s 2nd XI showed themselves more effective than Wenger’s first 11, topping our league with an impressive 217 points, a little ahead of Andrew Hydon’s the treble c’s (209) and Michael Brown’s Mike’s Dream Team (208).

In the overall league table, Alain Desmier’s Mountgrove Maulers (1564 points) continue to dominate, some way ahead of nearest rival Richard Campbell’s Dick Dastardly FC (1504).

His Armchair Villa scored an impressive 257 points, just edging out David Cape’s Rose United (256) and Nick Davies’s Wenger’s 2nd XI (255).

Respectively, their The Treble C’s and Willy Fogg’s X1 each scored an impressive 387 points, just edging out last month’s winner, Ashley Day’s The Zaha Men (383).

His Danlew FC scored an impressive 198 points, just edging out Mark Widdop’s self-deprecating Midtable Obscurity (197) and Richard Sweatland’s self-deprecatinger ‘nohopers’ (188).

Our second (belated) update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. The season’s now eight weeks’ old, but already England is on its second manager… though retaining our usual international form.

Congratulations to Alain Desmier, our Manager of the Month for September. His Mountgrove Maulers romped an impressive 280 points, ahead of Mark Jewell’s Preston West End (259) and Christopher Morgan’s Last year’s man (235).

That result is enough to see Alain topping our overall league table:

Our first update from the LDV Fantasy Football League. The season’s just three weeks’ old, but already we’re in recess as international action takes pride of place this weekend.

Congratulations to LDV team member, Alan Muhammed, who’s our first Manager of the Month — his Shantastic XI amassed an impressive 194 points, placing him in the top 1% of the league’s 3.7 million global players.

Congratulations to Mark Finney, whose Aston Villarreal (2,218 points) lead the LibDemVoice Fantasy Football League after the penultimate gameweek, number 37. But it’s close at the top – fewer than 20 points separate the top three, with Mark Widdop and Edward Douglas having made up ground. Sunday marks the final day of the season. Who will emerge triumphant? We’ll know by the end of the day…

There’s no change at the top as we enter the final quarter of the season, with Edward Douglas’s Use Your Ed and Mark Finney’s Aston Villarreal continuing to lead the pack, both having topped 1,700 points. But still fewer than 50 points separate the top 10 so it’s anyone’s league.

(To be clear, by the way, my name is highlighted below only because it’s a screengrab from my laptop. I’m not in any way trying to draw attention to the fact I’m in the top 5. Perish the thought…)

Congratulations to Edward Douglas, whose Use Your Ed (1,650 points) lead the LibDemVoice Fantasy Football League after Week 29, just ahead of the two Marks, Finney (1,636) and Widdop (1,625).

Oh, and as it may not happen again, ever, I’m going to lead a round of applause for the 10th placed team this week. That’s, erm, me, just sneaking on to the leaders’ board.

Congratulations to Edward Douglas, whose Use Your Ed lead the LibDemVoice Fantasy Football League after Week 28, just ahead of Mark Finney’s Aston Villarreal and Simon Stokes’ Back of the Net.

But let’s also hear it for three players outside the top 10: Guy Burton (Hackney Marsh 2nd XI) was Manager of the Month for February, closely followed by James Ludley (Ludley’s Line-up) and Ashley Wilkes (Le Saux Solid Crew).

There’s no change at the top of the table, with Mark Widdop’s Midtable Obscurity (1,445 points) continuing to lead the LibDemVoice Fantasy Football League after Week 25, just ahead of Paul Revell’s Sock Monsters (1,435) and Edward Douglas’s Use Your Ed (1,424).

But let’s also hear it for a couple of players outside the top 10: James Ludley’s Ludley’s Line-up had the best week’s performance, with 94 points, with Andrew Wiseman’s Wiseman Wanderers not far behind on 87 points.
